Maintaining a Hygienic Clean Post-Pandemic

Commercial cleaning has seen a shift in priority since the COVID-19 pandemic struck. With infection cases on the decline, it is still important to maintain a hygiene clean post-COVID pandemic. We haven’t rounded the corner of closing the doors on the pandemic, commercial cleaning companies, like most all companies mid-pandemic, have forever adjusted their way of doing business to meet the needs of their clients – focusing on sanitization, sterilization and ensuring a hygienic environment.

It’s important to still maintain levels of hygienic cleanliness with a priority for cleaning for health, while focusing on improving indoor air quality. Not only will it help fight against the spread of COVID-19 and its variants but also help reduce the spread of other harmful airborne pathogens.

1. Ensuring air ducts and ventilation systems are clean and circulating fresh outdoor air into buildings is a step being outlined in proposals to create new standards to improve air hygiene.

Additional improvements in the building’s infrastructure will help with those air quality improvements – as will hygienic cleaning standards put into place by working with your facilities management partner and commercial cleaners.

2. Proper advanced disinfection processes should begin with a workflow plan after studying and mapping your facility’s layout to identify high-touch surfaces and objects throughout the building. Those high-touch areas are to be cleaned thoroughly with a detergent-based cleanser and a microfiber cloth. Once the surface has dried disinfecting agents should be applied using an SOA-certified electrostatic sprayer and microfiber cloths to prevent overspray. All disinfectants should be registered/approved by the EPA as effective for use against SARS-CoV-2.

3. Don’t forget your flooring and soft surfaces. Often flooring surfaces aren’t thought of as high-touch surfaces, yet they’re often touched most frequently. Creating a floor care plan with regular maintenance to all surfaces, regardless of whether tiled, concrete, or carpet, will help improve your indoor air quality as well as the life of your flooring.

>> Create a vacuuming/sweeping schedule
>> Spot clean as needed
>> Deep clean carpets and scrub and strip hard floors at least every 12-18 months.

ProTIP >> Don’t forget about fabric sanitation for furniture such as office chairs, lobby and common areas, etc.

As COVID cases decline, the commitment to a hygienic, healthy work environment shouldn’t take a step back. Keeping your crew, employees, patrons, clients and customers safe and healthy in your place of business should stay the number one priority… regardless of industry. For a custom plan for your business, schedule a consultation and we can help keep your facility safe.
